Tammy Suthers

Corporate Buyer
Somic America, Inc.
Wytheville, VA

Tammy was nominated by Jessica Money, Indirect Sourcing Manager at Somic America, Inc. Jessica had the following to say about Tammy:

Tammy has many strengths that impact daily business for our company. One of my favorites is her ability to retain information for years! That attention to detail is one of many things that has contributed to her growth from Stockroom attendant – Buyer – Purchasing Supervisor – and now Corporate Buyer. She remembers the name of every supplier contact and email, why changes were made to machine tooling, and even to another supplier. This has saved us from repeating the past many times. Her mind is a resource we will never be able to replace. Just like her character, business ethics and values. They stand out as a beacon to those around her setting the standard for Somic while promoting fairness in our supply chain and encouraging diversity.

Being nominated and selected as a SWVAM Outstanding Woman in Manufacturing for 2025 was truly an honor. During my 23 years at Somic America, I have experienced many changes and challenges. Thankfully, management and colleagues have been supportive and have expressed their appreciation for my knowledge and experience. This has empowered me with the confidence to do my job effectively . I encourage and support other women as they navigate their own paths in the manufacturing industry.
