In just three years with West River Conveyors, Chris Viers has demonstrated what it means to lead with resilience, humility, and unwavering dedication. As this year’s Manufacturing Employee of the Year, Chris is recognized not only for his technical ability and leadership but for his profound impact on the company during one of the most challenging times in its history.
Chris’s leadership was instrumental in the company’s recovery following a devastating fire in December 2024. While others might have faltered, he stepped in with immediate resolve—returning early from travel to help assess damage, source replacement equipment, and establish a plan of action within 48 hours. His calm demeanor and strategic thinking set the tone for a swift, organized response that kept production moving and morale high.
His leadership style is hands-on and team-first. Whether operating a forklift, troubleshooting electrical systems, or sweeping the shop floor, Chris never hesitates to do what’s needed. When the company faced a sudden gap in its sales team, he filled the void without being asked—leveraging his technical background to ensure customers received uninterrupted support.
Despite not coming from a traditional manufacturing background, Chris quickly learned the industry, developing production plans, organizing major projects, and contributing to the design of West River’s upcoming facility. He also helped introduce the company’s first-ever performance review program and regularly works with consultants and training programs to improve his knowledge and better support his team.
Chris’s ability to unite teams under tight deadlines, manage major projects, and guide West River with focus and compassion make him a standout leader and a trusted voice in the company. His blend of technical expertise, problem-solving, and genuine care for his coworkers is what defines him—and what makes him truly deserving of this year’s Manufacturing Employee of the Year Award.
