Celebrating the Future: SVAM Hosts 2025 Manufacturing Careers Signing Day
On May 6, 2025, the Southwest Virginia Alliance for Manufacturing (SVAM) proudly hosted its annual Manufacturing Careers Signing Day at Smyth County Career and Technology Center in Marion, Virginia.
This event celebrated the commitment of six graduating students who signed letters of intent to pursue careers in welding, machining, and engineering—career paths that are foundational to Southwest Virginia’s economic future.
What made this event truly special was its focus on real opportunities. Each student signed an intent to continue their education through post-secondary programs, and also signed letters of intent to interview with local manufacturers—putting their futures into motion.
We extend our sincere thanks to the SVAM member companies who participated and supported this initiative by offering letters of intent:
- Smyth County Machine
- Wolf Hills Fabricators
- Mohawk Industries
- Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company
- Hapco Pole Products
In addition to our educational partners from:
- Smyth Career & Technology Center
- Washington County Career & Technical Education Center
- Virginia Highlands Community College
- Wytheville Community College
Their involvement gave this event real-world meaning and helped bridge the gap between education and employment—exactly the kind of connection SVAM is committed to strengthening.
Events like Signing Day highlight the importance of technical careers, hands-on training, and employer partnerships in shaping our region’s workforce. And for these six students, it was a moment to feel seen, valued, and supported in their next steps.
Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate these future skilled professionals!
