Elizabeth Wade
PC Assistant
Somic America, Inc.
Wytheville, VA
Elizabeth was nominated by Matt Teague, PC Manager at Somic America, Inc. Matt had the following to say about Elizabeth:
Elizabeth started working on the production floor here at Somic, and through discussions with several of our management staff expressed interest to move upward within the company early. The PC department had a long-tenured team member retiring, and thus opened up an opportunity to bring Elizabeth in as a PC Assistant, working within our Customer Service team.
As you may know, stepping into a role and trying to fill the shoes of a previously long-tenured team member can be difficult without a learning curve and a few road bumps. With Elizabeth, the transition was seamless. She is a quick learner, and was able to not only master the functions within her role, but she also found opportunities for improvements within those functions/processes for a more streamlined and efficient routine. As a result, and her eagerness to continue to learn, we have been able to expand her role well beyond it’s original focus, communicating with customers directly, receiving and preparing orders, as well as working with other departments on misc. shipping needs.
It was an honor to be nominated with the other wonderful hard-working women for Outstanding Woman in Manufacturing 2025. I was very surprised to have been nominated and it just meant so much to me that they see the hard work I put into my job every day. It’s such an honor going to the meetings every year and getting to socialize with other women in such different manufacturing roles that I take pride in being a part of such a wonderful group. I’ve been very blessed with the opportunities given to me through Somic America in my five years with them it’s been a great learning experience, and I look forward to what mores to come.
